I started taking courses at Atelier de Brésoles in Old-Montreal, so for the next few weeks, I’m going to be posting some of the work I did over there.
So this first course that I’m taking is called Cast drawing. At this week’s class, we drew from model – in this case a cast of a man’s head (profile and front view) and a skull – first by outlining the general shape of the subject, and then gradually refining it more and more along the way until we achieve a proportionally accurate contour of the head. Then, we proceed to draw the shadow’s contour, gradually refining and readjusting as we go.
These are only the two first stages of the drawings, which are not completed in the works shown below – Check out Atelier de Brésoles web site and their blog for more info and description of this and other techniques shown at the Atelier.
